Whole-Child Development
Project Learn School works to develop emotional competence, self-regulation, and respect for self and others. Our Groups (classrooms) are designed for students to build community and strengthen interpersonal skills. During daily Group meetings, students will often lead or participate in discussions regarding classroom behavior, peer-to-peer concerns or changes they would like to see in their school. Staff members help students deal with conflicts in a positive and productive way that develops their skills in conflict resolution for future use. In addition, bi-weekly school-wide student gatherings create space for students to share concerns, achievements, and talents amongst each other and the staff. Our program enables children to leave PLS with the ability to advocate for themselves and speak clearly regarding their needs as a student and a person.
