What can I do if I've forgotten my password?

Sadly, we can't send you your password in an email. Because passwords are only stored on the site in an encrypted form, it's impossible for anyone else to ever send your password back to you if you forget it. This is for your security, so that nobody else can ever misuse your web identity.

However, you can do something else to restore your ability to log in to the site -- you can request a password reset from the site. Nobody needs to approve this, and you'll have a new working password in a few minutes or less. Here are the steps to take:

  1. Click on the "Log In" link in the links bar.
  2. Click on the tab "Request a new password".
  3. Type in your full name (as you gave it when you registered for your web account) or your email address. Then click the button "E-mail new password".
  4. You will receive an email with a "one-time" login link (just like when your first registered for your web account). Click on that link, which will take you to your own profile page.
  5. Type in (and then retype to confirm) a new (and perhaps more memorable) password.
  6. For good measure, log out and log back in with your new password to make sure that the process succeeded.
